# 99 – Kaslo Winter in the Forest Festival — Fun in the Woods

This BC Family Day — Come Celebrate Winter with Us in Kaslo!

On BC Family Day at the Kaslo Airport, join us for a free family festival of all that makes winter magical and wonderful. The Kaslo Winter in the Forest Festival is hosted by the Kaslo and District Community Forest Society, and includes pretty much anything and every thing you could imagine you might want to celebrate about winter.

What more could you want? Gather your family and friends and get ready to have some good old fashioned fun. There’s great entertainment, homemade food including yummy homemade hot soup, bannock on  a stick and delicious maple taffy. There’s 4 on 4 hockey, and you can learn to cross country ski.

It’s All About Being Outdoors Together!

Whether you fancy a pick-up hockey game or you’d rather take part in snow painting or join in the woodsman (woods-person?) skill competition, it’s all about being outdoors together in the wintertime! When it gets cold outside, for some of us, it’s all too easy to curl up by a fire with a good book and lay low till spring time 🙂

But one of the most invigorating, exhilarating things about the Canadian winter is the thrill of being outdoors when it’s a bit chilly. You’re surrounded by friends, there’s a huge bonfire, and everyone’s moving.

Why not take part in an “all-in ancient technology snowball launching” or a giant puppet theatre?

True community happens in these moments as we play together, stay warm together, and, well, paint the snow together.

Join us as we find out what a real Canadian winter feels like — outdoors and happily so.

We Hope to See You There!

Kaslo is a lovely community nestled on the shores of Kootenay Lake, with heritage downtown shops and woodsy lakeside parks and open spaces. The village is often called the “Little Switzerland” of Canada because of its picturesque landscape. Take a look through the Nelson Kootenay Lake website and the Places To Stay section to find that perfect place to stay in Kalso over the BC Family Day weekend. We can’t wait to see you!
