It’s like being on the Left Bank in Paris after WW1, visiting salons and hobnobbing with soon to be famous artists without all the cigarette smoke. Visting Nine venues with eighteen artists makes the Blue Night outing in Nelson BC in the second millennium last the perfect amount of time. The openings are casual and offbeat as more than just art galleries are involved.
What a great way to get a feel for the Nelson and Kootenay Lake area and its eclectic vibe. Walk for your body and observe for your mind promoting health for both.
In fact, according to an article in Psychological Science, viewing art is even healthier for men than women. Fortunately large numbers of men were seen out on Blue Night improving their health!
Friday February 7th was a cold and clear, well below zero and attendance was brisk. Perhaps the cheese and veggie platters and Oso Negro coffee warmed up the deal.
Nelson and Kaslo have summer versions of Blue Night when everyone tours in summer dresses and short sleeves instead of down jackets and toques. And don’t miss Marketfest held once a month in Nelson from June to August, a celebration of music, food, arts and crafts.
