Checking In: Because You Are Awesome!

We have only done this once before, so figured that it was time to do it again…thank you! Thank you for following and sharing Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism’s 108 Healthy Things To Do blog. Each week, twice a week, we get to highlight one component of the area that makes us so amazing, and it wouldn’t be the same without you.

We all know what summer means…Festival Season! And what an amazing one it is this year. Just in case you need a reminder, we have:

Market Fest- downtown Nelson is the party!

Market Fest this Friday (July 25th) in downtown Nelson! Downtown Baker Street will be transformed into a lively night market featuring 100 vendors, live music, dance performances, kids entertainment and more.  Market Fest is fun for the whole family! The fun at Market Fest runs from 6 pm to 10:30 pm.  A $5 donation for admission is kindly requested for anyone over 18, though everyone is welcome, whether you make a donation or not!Featuring Adham Shaikh, Mrs. Strange, Ms. Erica Dee, Roneil, and more.

Unity Music Festival is this weekend (July 25-27), believe it or not! 3 days of music on one of BC’s most spectacular beaches & mountainscapes in Slocan, BC. Enjoy for one night, 2 nights, or even the entire weekend, bringing kids along for free.

Disk Break Ultimate Frisbee Tournament (July 26). That’s right, we have it here! Nelson home teams will be challenging Spokane, Kelowna, Vancouver and more! Come cheer them on and witness the amazing game of ultimate Frisbee- it may get you hooked!

Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival (Aug 1-3) is not worth missing this year! Bands from around the world come together for this amazing celebration of music and good times that will keep you moving, grooving, and smiling all weekend long. Today is the very last day to enter the Nelson Kootenay Lake Tourism‘s contest to win a free weekend ticket, Ainsworth Hot Springs pass, and Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival Tshirt!

marks the 19th Annual Fat Tire Festival, the Kootenay’s love for all things bicycle.

Kootenay Suffer Fest (Aug 30), running and racing in the beauty of Kaslo! 10k, 25k, 50k, kids races, and 200k!! Beautiful, fun, mountains and woods, a challenge fit for all!

Queen City Car Show (Sept 5-6) as we gather to admire the polished chrome in Nelson! The Queen cars presented by our Nelson Road Kings, this event has us all oow-ing and awe-ing.

A big shout out to Powerplant- Good Natured Food for their amazing raw, organic, vegan, gluten-free, peanut-free coconut bars that we were proud to distribute at the Tiny Lights Festival and will have again at the Kaslo Jazz Etc. Festival! What better way to promote healthy traveling and adventuring.
